1. Introduction & Gamer Privacy Mission

Welcome to Game Argon ("Game Argon", "we", "our", or "us"), available at https://gameargon.com. Game Argon is a community-first video game catalog, review aggregator, and player discussion platform.

Our core thesis is simple: gaming platforms should serve players, not data surveillance markets. This Privacy Policy explains with total clarity what information is collected when you visit our website, how that data is used, the measures we take to protect your privacy, and the statutory legal rights available to you under modern data protection frameworks including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), United Kingdom GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).

2. Information We Collect

The information collected depends strictly on how you choose to interact with Game Argon:

A. Guest Mode (Unauthenticated)

When using the platform without logging in, your experience is stored entirely in your local browser storage. This includes your game backlog status, ratings, bookmark collections, and guest reviews. No personal identifiers (such as names or emails) are transmitted to or stored in remote databases.

B. Authenticated User Accounts

When you register an account, we collect only the minimal data required for identity and community interaction:

  • Account Credentials: Username and email address provided during signup or OAuth authentication via Supabase.
  • Profile Details: Public display name, avatar URL, optional bio, and chosen privacy flags.
  • Player Contributions: Written game reviews, star ratings (0.5 to 5 stars), category breakdowns, pros/cons, playtime tags, community discussion posts, comments, reactions, and custom curated game lists.

C. Technical & Diagnostic Logs

When your browser requests pages, our edge hosting infrastructure (Vercel) automatically logs standard, non-personally identifiable diagnostic headers (e.g., HTTP status code, request timestamp, and general country location) strictly for routing, performance optimization, and DDoS mitigation.

3. Information We Explicitly Never Collect

To eliminate ambiguity, Game Argon explicitly avoids collecting intrusive data:

  • ✕Financial Details: We do not store credit card numbers or bank info.
  • ✕Precise GPS Location: We never poll your device GPS or hardware sensors.
  • ✕Biometric Data: No facial scans, voice recognition, or biometric tokens.
  • ✕Cross-Site Trackers: We never deploy Facebook Pixels or data broker SDKs.

4. How We Use Your Information

All processing is governed by strict necessity under lawful bases (Article 6 GDPR):

  • Platform Operation: Authenticating your session, storing your game lists, and syncing your library across authorized sessions.
  • Bayesian Community Ratings: Calculating aggregate, weighted community score consensus across game titles to help fellow players discover great games.
  • Platform Security & Spam Prevention: Protecting community discussion threads from automated bots, review bombing, harassment, and unauthorized access.
  • Direct Communication: Responding directly when you submit support or feedback inquiries via our contact form.

5. Cookies & Local Browser Storage Inventory

We adhere to a minimalist storage footprint. Below is a transparent inventory of all storage mechanisms utilized:

6. Third-Party Integrations & Privacy Modes

  • 🔒 Supabase Cloud (Authentication & Database):Account authentication and community data persist on enterprise-grade, SOC-2 compliant Supabase infrastructure with strict Row-Level Security (RLS) policies preventing unauthorized cross-user queries.
  • 🎮 Steam & Gaming Metadata APIs:Game box art, trailers, and official release descriptions are retrieved via official developer endpoints. No personal player identifiers are ever shared with external game publishers.

7. Advertising & Monetization Transparency

We strictly uphold Google Publisher Policies and Google AdSense partner guidelines:

  • No Sensitive Category Monetization: We do not target advertising based on sensitive personal categories.
  • No Rewarded Review Fraud: We never accept payment in exchange for positive review scores or manipulated community ratings.
  • Non-Intrusive Contextual Ads: Any prospective advertising deployed on Game Argon will prioritize contextual relevance (gaming titles) rather than invasive user-tracking networks.

8. Your Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)

Regardless of your geographic location, we provide comprehensive statutory data rights:

Right to Access & Portability

You have the right to request a complete machine-readable copy of your profile, reviews, and contributed lists.

  • Encryption at Rest: All stored database objects and backups are encrypted using AES-256 standards.
  • Row-Level Security: Database policies ensure users cannot read or modify private data belonging to other players.
  • Zero Password Storage: Passwords are never stored in plaintext and are securely hashed using modern cryptographic algorithms.

12. Policy Revisions & Audit Log

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect platform evolution, new features, or legislative requirements. When material updates are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued usage of Game Argon following the posting of modifications indicates your acknowledgment of the updated policy.
